On this Fifth Sunday of Easter, Jesus Christ speaks to troubled hearts: “Do not let your hearts be troubled... I am the way, the truth, and the life.” The life of St. Francis gives flesh to this message. Once driven by ambition and the search for success, his encounter with Christ, especially at San Damiano, a small church located just outside the town of Assisi, transformed him.
What began as a call to rebuild a physical church became a deeper mission: to renew the Church by living the Gospel in simplicity, humility, and love. In this way, Francis became a true “living stone,” shaped by Christ and anchored in God. Today, as we also celebrate Fathers’ Day, we give thanks for fathers and father figures who reflect God’s care.
Like Francis, they are called to build, quietly and faithfully, on the foundation of Christ. The question for us all remains: are we allowing Christ to shape our lives? If we do, we too become living stones, witnessing that He alone is the way to the Father.
